Guidelines for Chart Licensees:


These are the general guidelines for use of the the Charts represented by Billboard:
Chart Licensing Guidelines
ALL INTENDED USE REQUIRES APPROVAL
  • Approval and release of high-resolution Chart artwork is provided once guidelines are met and appropriate agreements are in place.
  • A mockup of promotional material is required when submitting your request for approval.
  • A description of intended Chart use is required when uploading your mockup (where, when, and in what context it will appear, plus estimated impressions or quantities, and if applicable, media spend).
  • For approval of mockups featuring FPO (For Placement Only), please upload the final file featuring high-res artwork to Billboard.
  • The approval process must be continued: a) throughout the terms of the purchase agreement; b) with any revisions to approved materials; and c) on all new materials.

RESTRICTIONS APPLY
  • Charts must remain intact and may not be altered or defaced in any way or used in any manner, which is libelous, obscene or otherwise defamatory.
  • The license is not valid until payment is made in full and any use of the Charts prior to payment shall be deemed unauthorized and constitute copyright infringement.

CHART SPECS
  • All Charts must include the week in which the title won.
  • You may change the size of the Charts at your discretion.
  • The Charts cannot be translated in any other language. The English version can be used internationally.

CHART EXPIRATION
  • Billboard Charts expire after the term, documented on the purchase agreement, from the time they are licensed.
  • On the dates the Charts expire, Chart artwork is no longer available for licensing. If a charts's expiration date falls during a brand's license term, the brand may continue to use the chart until the term end date listed on the brand's Purchase Agreement.

CONSIDERATIONS BY USAGE TYPE
Television (TV)
  • Includes On-demand services, and common Carriers (In-flight, Cruise Ships, Trains, & Buses)
  • License Term is 5 years.
  • Submit script and storyboard with correct FPO logo artwork for approval.
  • Submit final cut with high-resolution logo artwork for approval.

All Media
  • Includes TV, in-context promotional rights, and internet streaming.
  • License Term may be 5 years, 10 years or in Perpetuity.
  • Submit script and storyboard with correct FPO logo artwork for approval.
  • Submit final cut with high-resolution logo artwork for approval.
